Vincen Alistra Kain was born into an astute and prosperous merchant family in the well-to-do district of Lut Golain, Gem of the desert. From an early age Vincen displayed a high energy level and incestant restlesnes, often at the expense of his neighbors and the repution of his family. Vincen was both athletic and clever and made regular trouble in the neighborhood acostmed to a youth that is seen and not heard. His instructors recognised his quick mind, to be sure, but ostricised him for his rohbust and erratic behavior, often punishing his rebellios attitude with high prejudice. Despite this, Vincen remained ressiliant and he maintained a strong sense of self, never compromising himself to the hypocrocies of high societey. The youngest of 5 children, Vincen was expected to study hard, receive a higher education, and fill a role as a clerc in his family's buisness, mary someone of resonable stature, and retire in relative comfort. This prospect seemed worse than hell itself to this rohbust and erratic youth. When Vincen was 15, he met a young woman of like mind named Taila, whom he quickly became romanticly involved with, in secret, for she was from a family of a rival emerging trade empire. Their passion was quickly marred, as when their relationship was discovered taila's brother challenged Vincen to a duel to restore family honour. The battle was sloppy as both duelists were inexperienced and untrained, Vincen was far stronger however, and came close to killing his opponent. He proposed to Taila that night, but she rejected him for his violance against her brother. His parents, desperate to releive their family reputation of this ruinous child, decided to send him to the clergy. Vincen ran away that night, using his saved gold to escape to the painted elves, with whom he lived for several months, surviving as a labourer for food and simple lodgings. One day a hermet half elf named Yelsa, of considerable reputation as a warrior, passed through the village and managed to fight of a bandit raid with incredible zeal, using both powerful magic and elegant swordplay to dispatch the ragtag raiders. Vincen was amazed at this mans incrdible prowess, and begged Yelsa take him as a student, yelsa refused, but vincen was persistant and followed him into the desert to yelsas home, almost dying in the process. Impressed with the boys resolve, yelsa concented to Vincens wish, and for the next 10 years acted as his master, teaching him the art of the magus, an ancient and often misunderstood art of both magic and blades. Under Yelsa's creative and unorthadox tutalidge Vincen prospered, finding a purpose in self embetterment. Yelsa recognised the boys potential but feared he may stagnate if he became to comfortable under his wing for so long, and thus told him to leave his tutalige for a time, to face his demons and return when he felt ready, the rest is history.
